Lab Scoreboard

Lab Walkthrough Video:

Git is a distributed version control system for tracking changes in source code during software development. It is designed for coordinating work among programmers, but it can be used to track changes in any set of files.

A target machine is a web server running on it. By mistake, some of the git internal files were also present on the server and could be accessed by anyone.

Objective: Retrieve the flags from the target machine. Also retrieve the source code of the application, find out the vulnerability in the code and exploit it further to obtain the shell.

  1. Retrieve the content of the secret flag file present in the git directory.

  2. What was the email address of the user who made the most commits?

  3. What is the password for the user who made the most commits?

  4. Retrieve the Flask App SECRET_KEY. Retrieve the flag present on the target machine.

Instructions:

  • This lab is dedicated to you! No other users are on this network :)

  • Once you start the lab, you will have access to a Kali GUI instance.

  • Your Kali instance has an interface with IP address 192.X.Y.2. Run "ip a" to know the values of X and Y.

  • The target web server should be running on the machine having IP address 192.X.Y.3.

  • Do not attack the gateway located at IP address 192.X.Y.1

Verify:
1. Content of the secret flag file present in the git directory

2. What was the email address of the user who made most commits

3. What is the password for the user who made the most commits?

4. Flask App SECRET_KEY

5. Flag present on the target machine

Technical Support for this Lab:

There is a reason we provide unlimited lab time: you can take as much time as you need to solve a lab. However, we realize that sometimes hints might be necessary to keep you motivated!

We currently provide technical support limited to:

  • Giving hints for a lab exercise
  • In rare circumstances, if you have totally given up (NO!!!) then tell you how to solve it. This will be limited to sharing the solution video or lab report
  • A lab exercise fails to load or has errors in it

If you need technical support, please email  attackdefense@pentesteracademy.com  clearly mention the name and link of the lab exercise and other essential details. The more descriptive you are, the faster we can help you. We will get back to you within 24 hours or less.
